Perennial Herb: Deciduous. Deer, drought & clay tolerant. Native to California & western half of the US. Popular with butterflies & birds & is a Monarch host plant. Large, pointed blue-green leaves are coarse & hairy. The flowers are unusual & showy 3-5 in globes of pink-tinged, star-shaped flowers. The nectar-filled late summer flowers have a nice scent & magnificent seed pods. Upright growth. Ht: 4-6 ft, often just 2-3 ft. Exposure: sun. Water: moderate. USDA Z3-9.
